Leves are quests that are available in each major starting city. They are a very good way to get Gil, experience points and rare materials for crafting. If you want to learn how to maximize rewards from quests in Final Fantasy 14, here are a couple of things you might want to do for crafters.

Earn Lots Of EXP From Same Level Quests

If your crafter is level 10 and you are working on a level 10 quest, your primary objective will be to focus on earning lots of EXP. High level synths can be quite difficult to complete, so you should not worry about your quality score, but simply focus on completing all the synths.

When you are up against a leve of your level, you will be able to earn 350+ class experience points as well as 1400+ physical EXP per each synth that you correctly complete. This is a huge amount of EXP for each one you successfully complete allowing you to advance your character very quickly.

Complete Low Level Leves With High Performance Score To Earn Extra Rewards

Earning a high performance score at the end of each quest will allow you to receive extra rewards. So what you want to do is complete easy leves, but focus on achieving a performance rating of 100 for each synth you create.

The performance rating for each part of the quest is calculated like this:

The crafted item's quality score/ the number of materials you provide = performance rating.

You might want to use Bold Synthesis a few times on each item to get your performance rating to 100. Remember to only use this on quests that are at least 5 levels below you or the Bold Synthesis could fail often.

Earning extra rewards to help you get lots of EXP and Gil is very useful if you want to become super rich and gain a lot of EXP in a short amount of time.

In this episode, it's not over yet. Can we put an end to Sephiroth's will, once and for all? The final battle was especially challenging for me to record, because the vocals of the music kept on desynchronizing from the rest of the music. It was really weird. In order to compensate, I had to decrease the video quality for the battle only by 10%. The result is still a slight loss in audio sync, video quality, and lag, but they now seem tolerable to me. The alternatives would have been to max out the quality (which I usually do) and put up with the vocals getting too far ahead of the rest of the music, or reduce the video quality to reduce lag, neither of which were acceptable to me. If you don't like it, at least make a suggestion how to improve it. Thanks for watching!

As with its predecessors, Final Fantasy XIII is a role playing game for use with games consoles. It was first released in Japan for the PlayStation 3 in December 2009 and March 2010 saw its release to the rest of the world on the PlayStation 3 and also the Xbox 360. It has been well received, as have all the games in this series and the die hard fans rate it as the best ever. There are, however, those who see it as a game too far and that instead of bringing something new it is simply a revamp of what has gone before.

The biggest change since the last installment has been in the battle system. To try and keep the strategic battles feeling fresh, it has tried to recreate the systems used in the FF VII, with a few twists. Unlike FF XII, when you encounter enemies you do not fight them there and then, you are transported to a separate battle screen, away from the main playing area. There is the welcome return of the ATB (active time battle), but the difference is that you can link together a chain of commands to create an attack, and thus receive attack bonuses.

The Role system still exists, so that all the characters benefits from different strengths and weaknesses, and aren't all the same. A bid deal has been made of this is the marketing campaign, but to be honest, it should come as standard, as what fun is there is controlling lots of different characters who all possess the same qualities?

There is a new leveling system in FF XIII, known as the Crystarium System. This is similar to the Sphere Grid which was a big feature of FFX, but instead of gaining experience points after you have dispensed with an enemy, you now get CP (Crystogen Points) which can be saved up and then spent on various attributes, maximizing your HP for example. Every player has their own Crystarium, and it includes sections which correspond to the roles that the character has available to them. The Crystariums are not there at the outset, and are reached by making your way through the sequence of stories. As you go on, more and more levels are unlocked until you reach the maximum that your character can achieve. You start with the choice of three specialist areas for your character, and then more roles are unlocked.

The setting for FF XIII is a planet called Pulse, which is home to a race of mechanical beings known as the fal`Cie. They have god like powers and contain crystals which effectively control them. They set their sights on various characters, which are known as l`Cie. These all have jobs to do and goals that the fal`Cie have given them, and obviously, its up to you to figure out what these are and stop them first.

Overall, this is an enjoyable game with a lot going for it. The graphics are, as ever, exemplary, and the characters a lot of fun to control. It just has a feeling of finality about it, which may be no bad thing. This series has to come to an end sooner or later, maybe this is a fitting final Final Fantasy.

Creating a list of the top 10 best SNES games ever is definitely something that will be subjective towards the creator's personal views. Both the games that make the list and the order of the list can be debated. Here is a list of the top 10 best SNES games ever.

10 - Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting - This game probably made it to number one on any best SNES games list that was created by someone who loves fighting games. It is arguably the best fighting game for the SNES. With the addition of the Super Turbo feature, this game took the Street Fighter series to a whole new level.

9 - EarthBound - Although not very successful in the United States, EarthBound was extremely successful in Japan. It was praised there for its humorous depictions of American culture (can't imagine why it sold poorly in the US) and parody of the RPG genre. Since then, it has become a cult classic.

The EA Sports Active Multiplayer Pack will provide you with the ultimate gaming workout. In fact, I'd go as far as saying that this game is even better than Wii Fit. This game was designed by Oprah's very own fitness trainer, which can be a good or bad thing depending on how you think about it. But anyway, the exercises featured in this game range from easy to challenging. You can choose depending on how much of a workout you want.

I tried one of the 30 minute exercises, and I was dead tired afterwards. The next time, I tried some of the easier exercises, and these were okay for me. Once the exercise starts going, all you have to do is follow the instructions on-screen. No need for plenty of thinking and memorizing. Exercising with this program is so much fun.

Each program will make you do a variety of exercises from basketball to dancing, and they switch the order around a lot so you'll never get tired of any one exercise. On the other hand, you also have the option to cancel out any exercise you don't want to do from the program, and the game will automatically replace it with another one. The multiplayer pack has allowed me to exercise with my friends too.

This game has motivated me to be more conscious about my diet, and to get me in the mood to do more exercises, aside from the ones in the game. Using this game has made me feel more energetic and physically fit than ever before, so I hope it works for you too. Drawn, the fantastical adventure game from Big Fish comes back with a sequel for The Painted Tower. Drawn: Dark Flight brings back the hero from the last game after being able to save the princess from the tower. But now, you have a new quest and an array of new puzzles to conquer that will again test your imagination and creativeness.

The story begins with you waking up remembering the adventure from The Painted Tower. You are underground, lying in rubble and reminiscing how you managed the princess Iris but still not yet done with completely saving her. With the trusty adviser and friend Franklin still at your side aiding you, you must now save Iris again, but this time, you're off to make her queen of Stonebriar and overthrow the current evil king.

For first time players of the series, it's good to note that even without playing the first game, you'll still be able to function well and enjoy Drawn: Dark Flight through the help of the in-game tutorial system. However, I did note that players from The Painted Tower will enjoy the sequel better because of limited flashbacks and the game seems to reminisce too much on the first adventure during its early stages. In my case though, that did not keep me from enjoying myself as the storyline develops.

The game plays much like any adventure game wherein you need to collect items for your inventory that may be used to unlock puzzles in later parts. The twist in Drawn though is that sometimes, simple sketches of items materializes into actual tools for you to use. Not only that, you'll also be tasked to enter paintings and help various kinds of creatures along the way, making this game clearly one of the most innovative fantasy games I played in a long time.

As for in-game help for most of your adventure in Drawn: Dark Flight, you have unlimited advise coming from Franklin located at the lower left hand side of the game screen. Other than that, you have a hint button lying on the lower right hand side showing you the supposedly final result of each level. Don't worry though, because with all of the creative puzzles you'll encounter, Franklin and the hint system is even not enough to keep you from scratching your head with mild frustration.

As always coming from Big Fish, the game is brilliantly designed with concept art and wallpapers as well as an incredible original soundtrack to boot. It is overall enjoying to play with its inventive game play and engaging original story. I bet it's better you play first the first game though because of the story flow, but as I said earlier, it's not a necessary thing as Dark Flight handles itself well to give the gamer what he expected and more.

Final Fantasy XIII Review - Losing Faith in Square Enix

In the months leading up to the Final Fantasy XIII release, I found my enthusiasm for the game waxing and waning as more details were revealed, including its linear nature and simplistic combat. While the experience is much more complex and open than many had feared, the game as a whole is truly the worst of the series.

The graphics are amazing, though not the best of this generation, and the player models themselves are what really shine. I came to notice however that the main characters show vastly more detail than their generic NPC counterparts. Hair and clothing animation is top notch, with only the occasional hiccup here or there. There are also issues with lip syncing that leave much to be desired, and some may find this more annoying than others considering there is no option to retain the original Japanese voice acting.

Some moments. such as when I first arrived on Gran Pulse, are absolutely breathtaking. Epic scenes that feature lumbering beasts towering over the landscape, packs of wolves battling behemoths below. Combat animation, spells, and summons are well done, but there's nothing that really grabbed me or stood out here to the degree of the games predecessors. Its also fairly obvious that the design team in charge of the summons, known as Eidolons, have seen one too many Michael Bay films. After obtaining the first few, I began to wonder why Megatron kept showing up when I was clearly summoning Bahamut.

Gameplay is your standard Final Fantasy fare, flowing from combat, to cutscene, to that chest just out of reach, but I can safely say that this is the hardest Final Fantasy I have played. The difficulty was a surprise and is probably my favorite aspect of XIII. In combat, the player will inevitably be forced to choose "auto-battle" as their bread and butter command, in which the game will select what it deems the most appropriate actions for that particular turn. Unfortunately, I found myself disagreeing with the game's decisions....often. JRPG veterans may wish to manually issue commands to characters, but will find that the tedious target and ability selection system will cause the player to lose turn after potential turn if they choose to do so.

As the combat system evolves it becomes clear that paradigm shifts, in which your entire party alters their player class on the fly, are the name of the game. Battles become a puzzle, as the player decides what paradigm their party should be in at what times against what enemies. Many of the more powerful enemies can one shot your party at the start of battle if the wrong choice is made, so a number of fights become trial and error. Class composition basically breaks down to physical damage, magic damage, buffs, debuffs, tanks and healers. There are no towns or shops, and all transactions are handled via the save points scattered throughout the game world.

Story is where this game not only falls flat, but down the stairs and out the door. The game begins with a "purge" of certain citizens of Cocoon, to the feared underworld of Gran Pulse. Of course our protagonists are not too fond of the idea, and this is where the first few battles against the Cocoon government, Sanctum, take place. The game attempts to develop its world within these first few scenes, but throwing a slew of incomprehensible terms and political nonsense at the player make it more than difficult to follow unless the in-game encyclopedia is consulted. There comes a point where the player might as well just stop paying attention altogether, because keeping up never pays off.

Character development in FFXIII is lacking when compared against previous entries. It is revealed that Lightning hates people, Snow saves people, Hope is emo, etc, and for the most part they do not deviate from, nor develop these points throughout the entire experience. Previous entries have presented characters from childhood to adulthood through various cutscenes and dialog, but XIII omits this completely. Some of the characters eventually identify that they are indeed one dimensional, and that this has caused problems, but they take no definitive action to rectify this. This lack of explicit character development leaves the player not caring about them at all, and is a major reason why the story of FFXIII is so horrid.

I would say one of the most annoying catches of the story occur when each character experiences a "breakdown" and contemplates suicide as they are overwhelmed by their current situation. Imagine a stranger breaking down in front of you and exclaiming they want to end their lives because they can't decide if they want pizza or burgers for lunch. If you think the emo kids on youtube are bad, get ready for 40-60 hours of cry me a river awesome. Voice acting is all over the place, with Fang, Hope, and Sazh as the best of the crew, leaving Vanille and Lightning to bring dialog down to an unbearable level. I tried to follow the story, I really did, but there came a point when every other word in the character's vocabulary ended in "cie" and my brain decided it was done playing grammatical Rubix cube.

The general plot follows the same Final Fantasy formula of corrupt government, eventually leading to a single manifestation of evil for the player to face off against, but this is horribly executed and overly complicated. Sadly, the story takes itself far too seriously. I never laughed at the game, which is an unfortunate fact. I was ecstatic once I reached the end and it finally shut up, opened up, and gave me some freedom to explore the game world.

The game does open up after about 30 hours, but it never comes out and says, "Hey! I've opened up! Come on in and run around all willy nilly!". Many players, including myself, may just run to the next checkpoint as they have been accustomed to for the first 30 hours of gameplay. I did not end up exploring and really finding the meat of the game until I reached the very end. The player can literally beat the game, and never run into a single chocobo. I was about to write my congressman until I backtracked and found them rocking mullets and sideburns, which actually kind of made up for it. The side missions, optional bosses, titan challenges, and treasure finding mini-games are the really good parts, but they definitely don't make up for the shortcomings of the story.

Honestly, I forced myself through this game. By hour 20 I just knew it was going to get better, and at hour 50 I was hopelessly depressed when it didn't. I need to know what happened to storytelling between the original Playstation and this current generation. It's as if Square Enix just decided that their games need to be a series of button mashes, screen flashes, and crying.

In the Western World, we are familiar to videogame genres like first-person shooters, console role-playing, and puzzle games -- games like Halo and the Final Fantasy series dominate the Western gaming market. However, there is one genre of game that is relatively obscure in the West -- the visual novel.

The visual novel (VN) is a popular genre of game in Japan, dominating the Japanese gaming market with its thousands of available titles. As its name implies, the primary focus of a VN is its story. They are usually characterized through its vivid anime-style artwork, juxtaposed with text, static backgrounds, music, sound effects, and voice acting. Gameplay is minimalistic -- most of the interaction is achieved through clicking the screen to advance the story. A VN may or may not have decision points, at which your decisions may affect the outcome of the story.

The majority of VNs are renai, or having romantic themes, usually in a school setting. In these VNs, you take on the role of a male character with one or more female romantic prospects. The "otome game" reverses this role -- a female character with one or more male romantic prospects. However, there are several VNs where romance is not the primary focus; an example includes the Phoenix Wright series. The VN genre encompasses a variety of themes, including, but not limited to: mecha, yaoi and yuri (gay and lesbian relationships, respectively), magical girl, and medieval themes.

A large number of VNs contain hentai, or adult scenes. A VN containing them isn't necessarily a bad thing; in a romantic-themed story, it can enhance the relationship between two characters. However, there are VNs where the primary focus lies in the hentai, with an "excuse plot" to justify it. On the other hand, there are VNs with no such content. Whether you choose to play an adult or all-ages VN, they can have equally great stories.

There exists VNs for both PCs and videogame consoles. If you choose to play a Japanese VN on your PC, you might have to change your system's locale to Japanese, or use AppLocale if you use Windows; otherwise, you'll get garbled text. However, there are translation groups that have translated a number of Japanese VNs to English.

A good way to get your feet wet in the VN scene is to play some homebrewed ones; there are many free English VNs created using Ren'Py, a free VN creation software. When you're ready, you can look at several Japanese professional VNs at the Visual Novel Database; demos of the games can be found at their respective developer's sites.

Visual novels can serve as a break from today's action-oriented games. Try one today -- engaging plots, vivid anime-style art, and captivating characters will keep you wanting to play more.

For you PSP Game enthusiasts, this Fall is going to be a good one. A Limited Edition PSP Pack is due to be released soon. This includes a silver PSP console, a 1GB memory stick and a game (National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets). An added bonus is a voucher for the PSP 3D puzzle game.

PSP Games that are impressing players are Secret Agent Clank and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. The Secret Agent Clank game has an impressive collection of gadgets and weapons, but the storyline is like a funny James Bond spoof. Another good story is Crisis Core, with great combat sequences and amazing production designs. One of my favorites is Patapon, a fun puzzle game with rich visual effects. If you prefer the racing games, then FlatOut: Head On is the one for you. It has an assortment of game modes with plenty of stunts.

If you think the PSP is popular in the States, then get your head around this. In the first six months of this year, in Japan, over ten million PSPs have been sold just in that country alone! Having nearly 600 game titles helps including just-released, and soon to be released titles, such as Secret Agent Clank, LocoRoco2 and Phantasy Star Portable. Sony has already announced their new video delivery service in America. PSP owners can rent a movie from the Sony Video delivery Service and have up to two weeks to watch it. Rental movies can be rented from $2.99 to $5.99, where as purchased movies can cost between $9.99 to 14.99.

Although having a huge selection of PSP Games to choose from is great, some of us find the cost of buying games a bit on the expensive side. Fortunately, with the Sony PSP you can download games to the console. I download games regularly, mainly to save money, but also because I can get other media downloads, such as music and movies, for very little expense.

Role-playing games have been around for over three decades. During that time, there have been a horde of great RPGs for the PC. Here is a list of five of the best PC RPG games ever.

This list was created using the following rules:

- Only one game per title series may be included - The game must be an RPG - The game must be available for the PC - The game must not be an MMORPG

#5 - Fable - Fable was released in 2006 and published by Microsoft. The game received critical acclaim even before its release. The game ended up selling over two million copies in its first two years and was the top selling game upon its release. There were also follow-up games that Fable spawned, one of which included Fable 2.

#4 - Final Fantasy VII - Final Fantasy VII has been credited as the game which helped console role-playing games find a market outside of Japan. Although it was a very successful console game, it also was one of the most successful PC RPGs ever. The Final Fantasy series is one of the most popular RPG series ever, possibly the greatest. And Final Fantasy VII is the best of the best.

#3 - Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - This is the third installment of the Elder Scroll series which was released in 2002. Morrowind received very high review scores upon release. It has spawned multiple expansions and follow-up games.

#2 - Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - This RPG was one of the highest scoring RPGs by reviewers ever. It is set in, arguably, the most well-known space opera or sci-fi setting ever, Star Wars. But the setting was a newer setting developed at the time of its release. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic won numerous awards, including Game of the Year, Best Console RPG, and Best Computer RPG from multiple reviewers. BioWare and LucasArts are currently creating an MMORPG based off of the game series called, Star Wars: The Old Republic.

#1 - Fallout 3 - This action role-playing game was released by Bethesda Game Studios to rave reviews. It sold over 610,000 units during its first months of release, making it one of the most successful RPG releases ever. It won numerous awards during its release, including Game of the Year, Best PC Game, Best RPG, Best Xbox 360 Game, and many more.

There are numerous other PC RPGs that could have made the list. Some of the games that came close to making the cut are Diablo, Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment, and Might & Magic 6: The Mandate of Heaven. There are definitely many other games that could have made this list. Even within the games that were chosen there are several other great choices in the series. But this is a pretty solid list of the best PC RPG games ever.

The Mafia Wars lotto collection is the rarest item set in game. You can win pieces of the lotto collection by matching 3 out of 5 numbers in the Daily Chance mini-game in Mafia Wars. The Daily Chance drawing happens once a week, and you can get one free ticket per day.

In order to get the full collection on your own, you would have to win all 8 pieces. Considering the odds to win one single piece are worse than 1 in 1,000 tickets, the odds of winning all 8 pieces on your own is rarer than winning the lottery in real life.

However, because of this, most players recognize that they are never going to complete the lotto collection on their own and are willing to trade off their individual rare lotto collection pieces for larger quantities of more common loot. In particular, people are willing to trade these pieces for large quantities of the best loot in game, such as the Zoloto Sports Car or the Ubijca Assault Rifle.

In general, you can expect to pay 50-100 of these good loot pieces for each lotto collection piece. There are various places you can find trading partners on such as the official forums or on the Mafia Wars fan page on Facebook.

Upon vaulting the Lotto set, you get a +10% bonus chance to get loot drops. Note that most items only have a 20-30% drop rate in the first place, so +10% is an additional +10% (from 30% to 40% for example), so the rarer weapons and vehicles in game will experience a substantial increase in loot drop rate with this collection (from 15-45%, depending on item rarity).

However, the lotto collection is not useful for every single player. If you figure that you are 25% more likely to get a loot drop, and you traded 800 pieces of rare loot to get the full collection, you would have to collect 3200 more pieces of loot before you made that investment worthwhile. For this reason, I would only recommend the lotto collection for players levels 500 with at least 3,000 energy points. This collection is not worth it for lower level players.

Buying FFXI Gil is a good means of driving forward the gameplay of your character in FFXI online, especially since this allows you to grow faster than any other player in the game. Some may consider it unethical, and some just plain nasty, but I say if you choose to spend money on something that is important to you why shouldn't you? In any case many people try to get better in the game; some do it by choosing to bribe friends to loose against them in order to gain EXP, others buy Gil from real businesses and some try to hack the game. If you really want to become better at this game, you have to do what you have got to do, and one good way (where you actually still have to play the game yourself) is buying FFXI Gil.

Of course you'll still be playing the game, and everything like EXP and battle experience and quest achievement still remain your responsibility, but everybody knows how hard it can be to find enough Gil to buy something you really need if you have got everything else ready. It's just plain time-wasting if you ask me, and you shouldn't be forced to play around for hours without end just to get a large sum of money. Buying it is far easier.

Final Fantasy XIV is the latest MMORPG game developed by Square Enix. It's based on the extremely well received and popular Final Fantasy franchise with millions of players and fans. Final Fantasy 14 brings many intriguing elements to the genre and may not appeal to everyone, but most players think very highly of the game. The biggest complaint players have however is slow leveling.

That's why I decided to start off my FF XIV adventure by using a leveling guide. Leveling is done quite differently in FFXIV than in most other MMORPG games. Instead of traditional quests and experience FF14 enables you to advance your characters through the use of different kinds of weapons. For example you can equip a fishing rod, therefore level up a fisherman without having to fight your way through the game. Such is the case with all the classes and disciplines in FFXIV: you advance their skills and gain experience by using their abilities.

Although Final Fantasy XIV developers tried to remove the grinding part of the game, most newbie players will have to grind sooner or later. That's why I think it's important to follow a quality leveling guide which tells you how and where to complete quests. By using a leveling guide you will no doubt level up your character a lot faster than everyone else, and have all the expert information and knowledge about the game ins and outs you'll ever need.

Although the Final Fantasy series is now a massively popular brand, it only really took off and became popular in the mainstream after Final Fantasy VII was released on the PlayStation, way back in 1997. The improved graphics and a stellar storyline, along with all of the usual game mechanics were the platform for its success. However, the Final Fantasy SNES games were the games that got the series to that point in the first place, and are considered by some to be the best generation of all of the series. It seems that the SNES console was just made for RPG's (Role Playing Games), as so many were released for the system, but very few ever came close to the scope, imagination and guile of the Final Fantasy SNES games, particularly the last three (IV, V and VI).

Final Fantasy II was the first game of the series to be released on the SNES (the first was released on the NES), and although a worthy addition, it is clear that the developers were still developing the game and the genre. The same is also the case with Final Fantasy III. However, in FFIV, that all changed. In this game, you play the role of Cecil, a Knight who is on a journey to save the world from the evil Golbez. The game deals with many emotions and intertwined storylines, dabbling in love, friendship, heartache and struggling, and jubilation. FFIV was the first game in the series to use the now ever-popular Active Battle System, which was then used in the next six games in the series. It brings a new line of strategy to the game, which gives it a real depth.

The next Final Fantasy SNES game to really make an impact was the sixth in the series (although it was known as the third game in America). The game is famous for its struggle between good and evil. With the player taking control of Terra, an eternal struggle is fought to overcome the evil Kefka (recently voted as one of the best video game enemies ever). The game is famous for its amazing musical score, written by one of gaming's true genius' - Nobuo Uematsu.

A Guide to Painting Fantasy Miniatures

Begin your painting process by laying out a clear workspace with plenty of room. Make sure you have more than adequate lighting. Typical room lighting is insufficient because you are working with very small objects and extremely fine detail. I recommend you put a table lamp right on your workspace as additional lighting.

Inspect the pieces you will paint. Look for any flaws, problems, and excess metal or plastic. Remove these excess pieces with a file or side cutters.

Prime the miniatures with a white primer. This primer will protect the mini from damage, will prevent the paint from peeling off, and will help you see the finer details of the model. Make sure you apply the primer very thin and very evenly. Avoid letting it clog up the finer details.

Paint all the basic colors on the miniature starting with the deeper sections. What you are doing is reaching into the inside parts and painting them first. Think of this as layers of clothing. Paint undergarments first then the shirt and pants then finally the boots, belt, and hat. You work from the inside to the outside.

Wash the miniature in a very wet black ink solution. This is a very important step of the process and it will lend realism to your miniature. It will look great after this step. What you do is take black ink or black paint and add a lot of water to it so it is very wet. Then you wash this liberally over the mini. What happens is that the black will flow down into the very fine cracks. Do another wash with clear water if you need to. This whole washing process will add significant detail to the model and it looks particularly good on chain mail or large clothing pieces. It also adds resolution to musculature.

Do Highlighting and dark lighting. Highlighting and dark lighting means you take a section of the miniature, for example the thigh of a human, and duplicate the color in a variable shade. A human thigh would be flesh color so you take your flesh color paint and add a little white to it. This makes a lighter shade of flesh. Now you dab just a little bit of this lighter color on the high points of the thigh. You also do this with a darker flesh color and you dab small amounts into the lower areas of the thigh. Continue this process for any large parts of the mini.

Do your detail work. As you are painting the mini you will make small errors in paint. You should go over it and correct these then add any final details like jewels on the belt or helm. You should also add paint or texture to the base the mini will stand on.

Finish up by assembling the pieces together if needed, and spray the whole figure with a matte sealer. This sealer will protect it from damage and will keep the colors vibrant for many years.

About Color Schemes

Color schemes are always a subject for debate and some people insist on traditional schemes. I generally paint my miniatures in any scheme that looks good. The most important thing about color is that you should try to vary the colors away from the basic primary colors; even if you have to mix your own. This will lend realism to the mini. If you stick with just primary colors the end result often looks a bit like a cartoon.

When buying color paints I recommend you get some specialized colors like gold metallic and silver metallic for weapons, flesh for body features, and leather for clothing. These colors are near impossible to mix yourself.

Don't be afraid to get adventurous with color. There is no reason why you can't mix your own shades. Sticking with all the primary colors is okay but if you make some custom colors the mini will look much better.

Painting Miniatures takes a lot of patience and concentration. But it isn't hard to do. Once you have done a few of them you will get a good feel for how it is done and you will be making some fantastic miniature works for displaying, gaming, or just showing off to your friends.

#1: A Game of Thrones (George R.R. Martin)

This brilliant fantasy series starts with A Game of Thrones. What can I say about this series other then read it! It's well-regarded as one of the best fantasy series. This is a novel that leaves most other fantasy books in the dust. It's the best of the best, the crème de le crème. Its gritty, brutal, not for the faint of hearted and just so damn addicting.

Martin has created something special with this book. The vast scope of his plots span continents and like an onion, each plot hides beneath it the other. The author does new things with the fantasy genre: no character is safe from the author's noose; at any moment main characters can die. This seemingly ties various plots into twisted tangles, but martin is the master trickster and purposefully weaves the story arcs into something even stronger. It's almost impossible to predict the plot lines. What's also interesting is the author takes dastardly characters and slowly remakes them, over the course of the series, into incredibly interesting - even likable -- personalities.

If you are new the genre and are looking for the best of the best, read Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series (starts with A Game of Thrones) for a delightful ride into the fantastic world of fantasy. This is a novel that shows how good fantasy books can be!

#2: The Malazan Book of the Fallen (Steven Erikson)

Fantasy these days has been pretty stagnant, at least in the epic fantasy genre, since Tolkien. Fortunately, Erickson remakes the genre into something radically different, something unique and compelling. Erickson's work is vast in scope, tying dozens of plot lines into a cohesive whole. No other author can write battle scenes like this man. When he writes battle, you see it. If you want some fantasy where the action is so sharp you can feel the blade cut skin, battles so loud you can hear the crash of spear on shield, then pick up this astounding series. This book is genre redefining and hands down one of the best fantasy books you can read.

#3: The Name of the Wind (Patrick Rothfuss)

A stunning debut, The Name of the Wind has one of the most compelling stories you'll ever read. Every one I've recommended this book to raves about it. And, I'm willing to bet, you will too. Rothfuss takes some standard fantasy conventions reformulates them in to a superbly addicting blend. Great writing, a very compelling plot, fantastic characterization, and well-drawn world make this book one of my top fantasy book recommendations. This is a fantasy book for women, men, and children alike. All I can say is: read this fantasy novel!

#4: Tigana (Guy Gaveriel Kay)

Kay is the best character writer in the fantasy genre. He writes fantasy books that are not so much about the "fantasy" aspect as they are about character. And what character's he has indeed. You won't find cookie cutouts in his world. This man is a master wordsmith. His prose is beautiful and his plotting is always tight. Tigana is perhaps the most emotional fantasy book I have read. If you want to experience the whole gamut human emotions, read this hauntingly beautiful novel. As a bonus, this is a standalone novel, proving that standalones can bump shoulders with the big boy epic fantasies too. This is one fantasy book that will make you cry. I guarantee it.

#5: The Lord of the Rings (J.R.R Tolkien)

There is a saying that's pretty close to reality: "The world is divided into two groups: those who have read Lord of the Rings and those who have not." If you count yourself a fantasy aficionado, you owe it to yourself to have read Lord of the Rings. It's the father of all fantasy, a book that spawned a genre, and a masterpiece of the English Language.

Tolkien has always been about the world in which his characters live, never about the characters which live in his world. He created a world full of myth and legend, starkly real and full of mystery. There is always some strange power deep in a mountain, or some magical glade in the heart of a forest. There are worlds deep in the world, and worlds high in the heavens. It's a land full of wonder, a world too large to explore; it's an earth that still has mysteries and unknown lands.

#6: The Blade Itself (The First Law: Book One) (Joe Abercrombie)

A rousing entry into the fantasy genre. It's action packed, witty, twisted, funny, and so addictive it should be illegal. This is "Lord of the Rings." The Blade Itself is a new type of fantasy. It takes the standard fantasy conventions and weaves them into something completely new. Those jaded on how trivial and cliché the fantasy genre has become will feel a hurricane of fresh air with this book. It's probably one of the most remarkable books that's come out in a long time and has rejuvenated the fantasy genre. One of the best fantasy books, hands down.

#7: The Wheel of Time (Robert Jordan)

I can truthfully say that Jordan is the King of Fantasy, if not in complexity, then in page count. This monstrously big series spans over 13 massive books (each at least 700 pages). Including "A Wheel of Time" on this list invariably riles certain people. The past several years a new type of fantasy has come to the fore of the genre: gone are the hopefully optimistic village boys wielding magic swords on a quest to defeat the impossible; in their place, a gritty fantasy has arisen; a stark genre where the very conventions of what it means to be a hero are challenged: worlds are made of gray not black and white; heroes may be both a villain and savior; love is powerful, but ultimately ephemeral; heroes die and villains live. It's complex stuff that is often genre blending.

The Wheel of Time is a cornerstone in the fantasy genre. It's practically impossible to browse through the fantasy section of any bookstore without running into Jordan's half a dozen books, all occupying a prodigious amount of shelf space. Jordon's monstrosity - and yes, it is a monstrosity - weighs in at 12 books so far, enough to break more than one back.

While the quality of the latter half of his series dramatically decreased as Jordan became lost in his own world, the final book is scheduled to be released next year. Jordan passed away this year, but Brandon Sanderson is completing the novel.

As a whole, The Wheel of Time is rattling adventure that will suck you in. It's massive in scope, but the world is meticulously drawn, the characters (mostly) well drawn, and a very addictive plot that spans over twelve very large books. With the impact these books have had on the fantasy genre, you owe itself to at least read the first book. It's a great fantasy book, and a whole lot of fun!

#8: The Farseer Trilogy (Robin Hobb)

Hobb is one of the best characterization writers in the Fantasy genre. Her characters are vividly real, leaping out of the pages into our minds as living characters. She has no qualms about allowing her protagonist to suffer. If her protagonist falls into a pit, no Dues Ex Machina breaks the fall -- the protagonist will break both legs -- and likely the arms too. Her Farseer books are full of fantastic characters and an interesting, mysterious world to explore. Toss in a gripping plot, and these books make for some fantastic reads.

Hobb is perhaps the best character writer in the fantasy genre. If you are looking for some meticulously drawn characters and a world full of wonder and mystery, read these books. Hobb never stoops to using Dues Ex Machina in her novels; her characters suffer, and suffer greatly, which makes them all the more compelling. Those looking for a hero that can survive every situation without a scratch by pulling out a new superpower, look elsewhere. There is something deeply compelling about the world she creates in this series. Maybe it's the mysteries promised by her world, the faraway places that promise secrets, or maybe it's the vivid characters that jump out from the very sheets of paper into our minds and real and living characters. Whatever it is, this novel has it.

I highly recommend that every fantasy reader should read this trilogy. It's a masterpiece of fantasy and one of the most emotional fantasy books in the entire genre.

#9: The Darkness That Comes Before (R. Scott Bakker)

Fantasy books with real philosophy - who would have thought? Those of you looking for more of the "village boy defeats dark wizard conceit", look elsewhere. Those that want a brutal, gritty, twisted story that's as cerebral as it is action packed, read this book/series. This is a fantasy series that does new things with the genre and I highly recommend it as one of the best fantasy books in the genre.

#10: Mythago Wood (Robert Holdstock)

Myth and reality coexist in this stunning and beautiful novel by Robert Holdstock. With a theme slightly similar to Neil Gaiman's American Gods, Mythago Woods is a treat you will relish. If you are bored with all that epic fantasy pervading the shelves these days, well, pick this wonder full and different fantasy novel up.

Designing a house has become a herculean task in the present day. With the wide gamut of products and choices it is very difficult to zero in on a particular style. The difficulty in designing of bathrooms demands a special mention. A couple of decades back the bathrooms were not a part of the house. They were placed outside and were as simplistic as imaginable. Only the affluent could afford the vanity of a bathroom in their houses.

Slowly the common man has begun understanding the luxury that a bathroom offers and began to get more and more inclined towards it. The country bathrooms are those with floral wallpapers on the walls with tiles of wooden finish. They are the easiest style to attain amongst all the styles.

The Shabby Shic is a very difficult style to attain. It is a bold choice to make and it can have any combination of bathroom articles and fixtures in it. The designer may choose to do anything he wants with the space and hence it is a very subjective style of designing. The modern style of bathroom designing takes into consideration the space constraint prevalent and tries to give luxury in the minimal space available.

The final and the most daring of all the styles is the Fantasy style of bathroom designing. This is total opposite to the traditional style of bathroom designing. Fantasy style bathrooms demand large space and involve a lot of investment. They have all the futuristic bathroom vanities fulfilling all your fantasies and dreams.

Steam cabins and Jacuzzi are ideally chosen for showering and bath. If a walk-in shower is preferred a wide assortment of jet streams and shower products are available to choose from. Glass pane shower enclosures are often chosen along with well designed bath screen. Chrome shower fixtures, modern tiling and a state-of-the-art shower lighting would complete the experience.

Wall hung or standard toilets and basins can be chosen but with a well designed pedestal. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is the best selling game by Infinity Ward, and was released in 2007. The game has been so successful, that it was named 'Game of the Year', and a special 'Game of the Year Edition' has been released, complete with all-new multiplayer maps to battle it out on. Since the game has been out a while now, and with the sequel looming in the shadows, I feel it apt to give it one final Call of Duty review, as a final send-off.

First of all, Modern Warfare is one of the best video games I've ever played - from the amazing single-player missions, right through to the massive online community that take part in the online games. Most people that do a Call of Duty review seem to focus primarily on the single player, so I'll just touch on that briefly. Ultimately, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's single player mode is so enthralling, that by the end of it you'll feel like your squad-mates are real people, and that you know t hem like your own brother. The missions are nicely diverse, and take you all around areas of Eastern Europe, from towns, through an abandoned TV station, to a mission where you must snipe your way past every enemy with a high degree of stealth.

While the single player mode is amazing, and there are several hidden 'intel' computers to collect on each level, the multiplayer mode is where the real longevity of the game lies, and is where the game stands tall against all others. The best part about multiplayer is the sheer number of modes that are available. Some of my personal favourites include Domination, where there are 3 flags to capture on the level. Having possession of each flag will gain you points, and it's a straight race to 200 points. Then there's Deathmatch, where it's every man for himself, and it sometimes pays to be the one last to appear in a firefight. My personal favourite mode is Search and Destroy, where you must work together in small groups, either as the terrorists or the counter terrorists, to take out the other team before they plant/defuse a bomb (this is very similar to Half Life: Counterstrike).

Some of them even constantly rave about being on board a pirate ship and fighting with the boys for treasure.

Computer games characters

We know that nowadays children are fond of different computer games. They play these games whenever they can and allowed by their parents. Some characters from the games are loved by many children very much. And off course if they like somebody they want to turn into them at least once a year. Halloween is a good reason for this. Anime-influenced video games introduce us to a lot of characters who deserve our attention. They will be happy to dress as Yuna, the pure-hearted Samaria. Your children would like even the evil ones, like Sephiroth of Final Fantasy 7. But some of the characters will not make very appropriate costumes for your kids that is why before buying or renting a costume you have to be sure you know how this or that character looks like.

Ninja

If your children are not very familiar with Japanese culture one thing they know for sure is the ninja. This character is beloved; children like ninja tricks. They enjoy the way ninjas can hide themselves in sand and jump up very high. Ninjas can move very soundlessly and disappear very quickly. These features make the ninja a mysterious character. A ninja costume is a nice way to go trick-or-treating. Ninja Halloween costume can be of different colours. Adding some rubber knives or daggers to this costume makes it a "ninja-approved" costume.

Nowadays Halloween is a festival where you can be dressed up in any sort of a costume and it is not a necessity to have a scary costume. And no matter what character you choose the most important thing is for you to have much fun and spend a good time. All kids like Walt Disney cartoons and their characters can be a good way to celebrate Halloween. Such costumes like Aladdin, Tarzan or Hercules are always welcomed by many boys. Guinness World Records The Video game for the Wii is seriously underrated and is a real barrel of laughs! This game is packed with 36 mini games that are perfect to play in multiplayer mode. From a health aspect, many of the games get you 'running', 'throwing', 'pushing', 'pedalling' and more with the Wiimote and Nunchuck, so there is lots of action to be had that will get your heart pumping. There are also some really difficult accuracy games that require skilled hand eye coordination to break records. My favourite has to be the 'Most Dominos Toppled' record game! Read more about this below.

Today I want to share some how-to's with you so that you can get the most fun packed action out of the games. The onscreen instructions are only visual, and can be a little confusing at times. So here is a guide to my favourite mini games in Guinness World Records The Video game:

Hint: The mini games are grouped by location in groups of 3. The first game is free to play; the second game will need to be unlocked with 1000 points, and the second game (usually the most fun) with 5000 points. To gain points, you will need to get high records in the 'free' games. If you gain a 'Guinness World Record', you will usually be awarded over 1000 points. Then you will simply need to click on the game to unlock it. The game will prompt you if you need to collect more points. Good Luck in breaking those records!

Mini Games Group 1 FREE - Fastest Time To Shear 5 Sheep. You will use the Wiimote as your shepherds crook to catch the sheep. Point at the screen, hover over a sheep and press A to grab your sheep. Then your Wiimote will control an electric sheer. You will need to press A again and move the sheer over the sheep's body to shave it. Quick Tip - Try holding the Wiimote at an angle to cover the most 'wool' as you shave with the sheer. aim to shave each sheep with just three strokes.

UNLOCK 1000 POINTS - Land Speed Record. Hold the Wiimote horizontally. Tilt the Wiimote gently up and down to move your rocket from side to side as it picks up speed. The aim of the game is to avoid any obstacles that will slow you down. This game appears easy at first, but as soon as the pace quickens you will have more obstacles in your path! Don't crash!

UNLOCK 5000 POINTS - Fastest Time To Push A Lorry 50 Metres. Flick the Wiimote and Nunchuck down in time with the onscreen arrows to get 'pushing power'. Aim to get an 'Excellent' or 'Nice' pop up on screen. Then get your avatar to run to the finish line by shaking the Nunchuck and Wiimote frantically up and down in an alternating motion.

Mini Games Group 2 FREE - Longest Fingernails (Grose)! Use the Wiimote as a pointer to trace the finger nails along the wibbly lines. This will make then grow. Be careful not to go too fast or too slow as the finger nails might break! You will get 5 try outs, one for each finger and one for the thumb.

UNLOCK 1000 POINTS - Paper Aircraft Accuracy. 'Throw' your paper aircraft forward by holding the Wiimote like a dart and making a jerking forward movement. Then tilt the Wiimote gently from side to side and down to get it into the three barrels.

Quick Tip - The harder you 'throw' the paper airplane with the Wiimote, the faster it goes. This is good if you can be really accurate with your aim. If not, then try to throw it more gently to begin with until you are a pro!

UNLOCK 5000 POINTS - Fastest Time To Catch A Tonne Of Fish. I find that it is easier to play this game if you hold the Nunchuck in your writing hand. 'Cast' your rod by flicking the Wiimote in a forward motion. Then 'hook' your fish by sharply flicking the Wiimote upwards when you are prompted by the onscreen diagram. Next, Reel in your fish by moving the Nunchuck round and around as if you really are reeling! Now you will see some arrows on screen as you are reeling your fish in. This indicates the direction that you should flick your Wiimote in as you reel your fish in with the Nunchuck. If you get this right, you will be able to reel your fish in faster! Good Luck!

Mini Games Group 3 FREE - Most Melons Crushed In 1 Minute. This is a really simple game, but lots of rip roaring fun! Simply swing the Wiimote downwards when you want your avatar to hit the Melons. Now you can see your avatar hit the melons with his/her head! The more melons you crush, the faster they come, so watch out!

UNLOCK 1000 POINTS - Highest Jump On A Pogo Stick. 'Jump' by holding the Wiimote sideways with both hands like handle bars and flick the Wiimote upwards. You will need to jump just at the right time to get extra height. Look out for the arrows on the ground, and try to jump when they turn green. Aim for an 'Excellent'. Now repeat jumping in a pattern of 3 when prompted by onscreen instructions and see where you come on the height measurer!

UNLOCK 5000 POINTS - Most Arrows Caught In A Minute. In this game the Wiimote and Nunchuck control the hands. Move the controllers left and right to catch the arrows as they fly towards you. This sounds easy, but it really isn't. If you miss an arrow, you will be penalised for a short while and the offending hand wont move.

Quick Tip - This game is all about timing. To get the timing right, try looking at the bottom left and the bottom right of the screen to 'catch' the arrows at just the right time!

Mini Games Group 4 FREE - Highest Video Game Score. Point your Wiimote at the screen and press A on your Wiimote to shoot at oncoming ships.

UNLOCK 1000 POINTS - Fastest 100m on a space hopper. 'Jump' up by holding the Wiimote and Nunchuck upright and jerking upwards. Jump at just the right time by waiting until the arrows on the ground turn green. This will give you more speed if you get an 'Excellent'! Go for that record!

UNLOCK 5000 POINTS - Fastest Rocket. First, shake the Wiimote up and down to boost the rocket engines. Next, press A on the Wiimote when the count down reaches zero to launch the rocket. Now the Wiimote controls the hand. Click on the coloured buttons on the rockets control panel as they light up. Be quick, or your game is up!

Mini Games Group 5 FREE - Highest BMX Jump. When the bike is on the ramp, pedal as fast as you can by moving the Wiimote and Nunchuck round and around as if your hands are the feet on the pedals. Get a high jump with the BMX by moving the Wiimote and Nunchuck upwards when the bike leaves the ramp.

UNLOCK 1000 POINTS - Longest Motorcycle Jump. Hold the Wiimote and Nunchuck sideways in hands like holding onto bike handles. Tilt the Wiimote sharply towards yourself when the bike engine revs reach the blue lightning bolt on the speedometer. Aim for 'Excellent'. When the bike is in the air, move the Wiimote and Nunchuck upwards in rapid succession to keep the onscreen arrow in the central position. Now just see how far you can go!

UNLOCK 5000 POINTS - Fastest 50 Metre Tightrope Walk. Hold the Nunchuck in your left hand and the Wiimote in your right hand. Make sure that your arms are outstretched so that the wire between the controllers is straight. This game is all about balance, so try to keep your Wiimote and Nunchuck as straight as possible to stop your character from falling off the rope! Press Z on the Nunchuck and B on the Wiimote to move the avatars feet. Good Luck!

Mini Games Group 6 FREE - Longest Balance Of A Vehicle On Your Head. This game is played with just the Wiimote. Hold your Wiimote horizontally and gently tilt it to get your avatar to balance the bus! Try to make small adjustments so that you don't lose control and go crashing off screen!

UNLOCK 1000 POINTS - Furthest Toss Of A Cow Pat. This game is played with just the Wiimote. Swing the cowpat around the avatars head by making a lasoo movement with the Wiimote. Press B to release the cowpat into the field at just the right time.

UNLOCK 5000 POINTS - Most Dominos Toppled. This is definitely MY FAVOURITE. This game is played with the Wiimote only. Hold the Wiimote horizontally and tilt it from side to side to get along the track and knock down all of the dominos. Press the D-pad or 2 on the Wiimote when you race over them to knock down the extra dominos to the side. Remember to press left or right as indicated on the track.

Power Princesses
There are the princesses who are meek and mild. These girls let others pick their outfits and do whatever their evil (or not-so-evil) stepmother asks them to do. General Strategical requirements of a Black Mage.

The fight sequence of a Black Mage is, generally, as follows:
1. Sit in the back and cast your 2nd or 3rd highest elemental spell.
2. Use then your Highest or second highest Elemental spell.
3. Wait for the fighters to attack and possibly taunt.
4. Continue to cast your good elemental spells.
5. Occasionally wait for the fighters to draw some hate.
6. Cast more Elementals.
7. If you are ever attacked just sit there, casting will only draw more hate.
Note: Which elemental you should cast is also based on MP efficiency and Weaknesses of certain elements by the enemy. For example if a Stone I costs 8 mp and does 20 damage to an enemy, yet a Water costing a bit more MP does as much to some enemies, thusly Stone is better for those enemies.

Also Note: In the beginning slightly weaker spells are used because the Fighters need a chance to draw hate, if you start out with your best spell you are likely to be attacked.

The Black Mage and you - Black Mages interaction with other classes.

Inter-class relations is relatively simple with a Black Mage.
Class - Relation a Black mage has with them.

White Mage, Red Mage - The Black Mage generally has top-priority for curing, as they cannot take many hits.

Tanks - Take hits for the Black Mage, the Black Mage providing great damage in exchange.

Others - Little interaction with Black Mages, other than telling him before you start a skillchain.

The Black Mage and the Rest - The assumption that it is easy to be a Black Mage

In the beta, and in those following the game slightly in locales where this game hasn't been released yet, it's popular belief that Black Mages are near an easy class to play, however this is not so. being a successful Black Mage requires a great deal of planning and skill, especially once partys get demanding on the Black Mage to be able to do an MB or two with every Skillchain, which is a rather hard feat to do, requiring practice and good timing. These assumptions of an easy to play class that does the best damage create many low-level characters that try to be a Black Mage and quite a few of them failing, and reverting to a combat oriented job. Due to this the beta community had a shortage of high level Black Mages, a shortage that caused frustration to many as they could not find a Black Mage for their party. Black Mages eventually become a necessity for every party, for they are the ones that do the damage.

Weapons for a Black Mage - Choosing a weapon for a Black Mage.

Now, time to look into equipment for a Black Mage, more specifically a weapon. Most Black mages will choose a Club or Staff, yet there are other weapon choices for a Black Mage. Here I will present these choices.
Dagger:
Pros - Fast attack speed.
Cons - Weak damage, which means 0 damage as a Black Mage usually.
Staff:
Pros - Moderate damage, great high level staves.
Cons - Slow Attack speed.
Club:
Pros - Bonuses that help casting, moderately fast speed.
Cons - Weak damage.
My preference is a Club, since Black Mages wont attack once they start partying, since the bonuses are quite good. Later on some staves are stellar tho so you may want to check them out as well, such as the Dark Staff.

Black Mage spells - A more in-depth view of spells.

Now a chance to look at some of the Black Mages basic sets of spells, the primary use and objective having already being discussed here I will detail some of the basic spells.
Enfeebling:
Bind - Holds the enemy, allows you to cast without geting hit.
Blind - Decreases attack accuracy, quite useful considering its MP cost.
Poison - Does damage over time, good but I prefer dia.
Sleep - Puts the enemy to sleep, good for running.
Shock, Burn, Choke, Drown - Lowers an enemy's stat and does damage over time. Also lowers an enemies resistance to one element; Note, you can only have one of these on at once.

Enhancing:

Elemental Spikes - Does Elemental damage when you're hit, not good.
Dark:
Bio - Lowers attack and does damage over time, high MP cost.
Drain - Absorbs HP from the enemy, very good, long recharge time.
Aspir - Absorbs MP from the enemy, very good, long recharge time.
Elemental:
All elemental - Incredibly Good, the spells you cast most.
Spirit:
Warp - Instantly transports you to your home point, nifty!
Escape - Intsantly teleports your party to the enterance of a dungeon.
Warp - Instantly Teleports you to your homepoint.

Balancing a Black Mages Budget - What you should buy.

As a Black Mage one should always consider their role in a party when making any transaction. As a Black Mage you should spend very little on armor, and even less on a weapon.
What not to buy:
Armor in excess, no need to get new armor whenever you can afford better, only buy new armor every once in a while.
New weapons in excess, same as armor, also you should buy your weapon based on what bonuses to stats they give rather than damage.
What to buy:
Elemental spells, buy these with top priority.
All other spells.

Questing for a Black Mage - Highly rewarding quests for Black Mages.

Windurst:
Aspir Quest, Fuepepe; Aurastery, Windurst Waters. Gives the spell Aspir.
Star Onion Brigade quests, Behind the Warehouse in Windurst Woods. Do these for the Blaze spikes.
Note: Do the first two quests ASAP.
Compound Eye Circlet Quest, Koru-Moru's Manor in Windurst Walls.
Shantotto quests,Shantotto's Manor, Windurst Walls.
Do these for a Hypno Staff, Warp II, and some other stuff.
Hypno Staff Quest, Paku-Nakku, Aurastery Roof, Windurst Waters.
Only if you wish to use a staff.
Bastok:
Warp quest, Unlucky Rat; Cement Factory, Bastok Metalworks.
Gives the spell Warp.

The development that went into the PSP Go has paved the way for expansions that could be used for upgrades and future applications. The memory is excellent on this device. For most of the 20th century, life used to be rather simple for most people. There was school, college, work, retirement. Along with that you had hobbies like cars, bowling, or gardening. The former was more or a less of a chore, the latter the fun stuff you did in your free time, usually together with local friends from the same neighborhood. This was basically the same as a thousand years ago. For a few lucky people the two areas overlapped and they could do the stuff that they liked as their main job.

Now, in the last 10 years of the 20th century, as well as in the first few years of the 21st, this has been changing rather dramatically. The reason is the rapid technical progress, both in the wide area network and computing power areas. Contemporary hardware can animate very detailed and realistic graphics fluently, and transfer data on the movements and actions of hundreds of objects and characters around the world in milliseconds (although, unfortunately, the speed of light still remains a limiting factor). This has led to an explosion in the availability and quality of online games, with the newest generation like Counter-Strike and World of Warcraft becoming a phenomenon no longer limited to any particular social class, but rather an all-encompassing cultural element in the industrial countries.

Increasingly, parents find that their children spend a lot of time playing some of those games, and more and more people come in contact with them. This leads to people wanting objective information, which is in practice not easy to obtain. Most articles about these games are either written by rather clueless journalists who have never or hardly played the games in question and therefore mainly focus on scandalous negative side effects, or by enthusiastic fans who dive deep into the technicalities and don't mention the real world consequences much. This article tries to bridge the gap - it describes the currently most important types of online games and looks in detail at the social relationships behind them. The authors have been longterm players for years and therefore hope that they can address the issue in considerably greater depth and detail than most journalists (however, you won't find detailed technical facts here since it is not in scope of this article).

There are basically three main types of multiplayer online games:

First-person shooters (FPS) where the player sees everything through a (usually temporary, just for the online session or less) character's eyes and his gun's barrel. This category still remains predominant in total worldwide player numbers (according to Valve, Counterstrike is currently still the most popular online multiplayer game). Some of the other examples include Quake, Unreal Tournament, and Doom3.

Strategy games are the the second main category. Usually similar to FPS games in the round/session-based style of play, in these games the player usually does not have any single entity, but rather commands a number of troops of some kind against other human opponents. There are also various options where one can both play with other humans against the computer etc. Games of this kind include Starcraft, Warcraft III, Age of Empires and many others.

The last group, the MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games), is the area which popularity has really exploded in the last few years. Here, the player obtains a permanent character (or entity) or several which can evolve and be equipped with various gear, and undertakes adventures in a large world full with other players. This is probably the most promising group since it resembles the real world most, and it has also been the fastest developing recently. The currently most prominent games in this category are World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XI, Guild Wars, Everquest II and Lineage II.

FPS

In first-person shooter games, the basic principle is simple. Shoot or be shot, kill or be killed. Starting with the original Castle of Wolfenstein and Doom, these games have developed to a level of frightening realism mainly for men living out their ancient predatory and fighting instincts (according to some surveys, there are about 10 times as many male as female players in average FPS games). One of the recent milestones in this category, Doom 3 is a game which is psychologically scary even to adult men with the highly detailed and realistic monsters suddenly attacking from dark corners. However, once these games take to the online multiplayer stage, their focus shifts a little. The goal is no longer to scare the pants off the lone player in his dark room, but rather to provide a fun platform for competition between many players of different skill. The most popular online game in this category is still without doubt Counter-Strike - a game which has received much negative fame because of various school shootings done by Counter-Strike players, yet still remains a highly captivating pastime for millions worldwide. It is a fan modification of Half-Life, a Valve game, and a team game in its core: one team is the "terrorists", the other the "counter-terrorists", and the play is round-based: at the start of a round, each team member receives an identical (except for clothing) avatar, picks some weapons, and the the two teams clash in combat until either a bomb is placed or everyone of one team is dead (there are also variations like "capture the flag" etc).

There are numerous reasons for the massive popularity of Counter-Strike. The game rounds are short-term in nature and don't require much time. It is comparatively realistic - weapons existing in reality like the M-16 or AK-47 are used in the game, and even one shot may be enough to kill. Also, it is easily accessible - almost everyone can install and run a Counter-Strike server, and there are many thousands of them in the world online at any given time. Although the basic game does not lead to social interaction deeper than a quick chat, the grouping of people around some specific favorite servers and the wish to play better, which inevitably requires solid teamplay, has led to the phenomenon of so-called "clans", or dedicated player groups, which usually have their own server where they train. A competitive clan will usually have requirements for people wanting to join - a certain skill level, or some minimum playtime - and most serious clan players play at least several hours a day. Dedicated clans will also sometimes meet in real life to discuss strategies and generally have fun, which is not much different from most other groups of people with similar hobbies, like e.g. stamp collectors or RC model builders. Since many servers are regional, mostly there are same-country and often even same-neighborhood people on the same server, which of course makes meeting in real life easier as well.

The picture is roughly comparable in the other FPS multiplayer games like Quake 4 and Unreal Tournament, with the main difference between that the latter are less realistic and include sci-fi weapons like laser guns and such. They are also typically much faster, with frantic movement (means, being hard to target) being highly important to survival, which is a concept rather different to Counter-Strike where sometimes the top scorers just sit in one place with a sniper rifle. However, a thing common to all FPS, mouse control is highly essential. Skilled FPS players develop extremely good mouse control (conventional mice no longer being good enough for them led to the development of a whole new segment of gaming mice) and have reaction times below 0.1 seconds. The numerous stress peaks and drops, lack of time between rounds, and the frantic gameplay often leads to additional addictions, though - many of the hardcore FPS players are chain smokers, fast-food eaters, coffee addicts, or all of it combined. There are worldwide tournaments held for most of the established FPS, and the current champions are mostly from Europe or the US.

Strategy games

The picture is a bit different with strategy games. Usually they are less frantic and leave much more room for logical thinking (of course, the classic board games like chess or Go also have major online playing facilities nowadays, but they cannot really be called multiplayer games since there is little to none team aspect, it's just one-on-one most of the time). A typical example is Warcraft III, which is the most recent in the Warcraft realtime strategy game series by Blizzard. It is played on the so-called Battlenet, a major online gaming hub by Blizzard, which also serves other strategy games like StarCraft. In Warcraft III it is possible to play both random opponents matched to you approximately by skill, either one on one or in teams of up to 4 on 4, or play others in pre-arranged teams. As in FPS games, there are also clans in Warcraft, which in this case are even explicitly supported by Battlenet. This and the very immediate visibility of someone's skill level (basically, his win/loss ratio) gives rise to much competition between dedicated players for the top ladder (ranking) spots. Unlike geographically uniform games like Counter-Strike with tens of thousands of servers, Warcraft has just a handful of large servers, each for a certain area of the world (e.g. Americas, Europe, Asia). Interestingly enough, most strategy games are dominated by Asian, especially South Korean, players, where online multiplayer games have been a very major part of the culture for years already. The professional South Korean Starcraft and Warcraft tournaments are major events with hundreds of thousands of live spectators, played on an extremely competitive level, and broadcasted on TV, and the top players have practically celebrity status and incomes in the six-figure range and higher.

Since the popular strategy games are usually also just round-based, there is not very much room for social interaction apart from an occasional chat. Strategy players are probably a bit older than FPS players on average, mostly between 16 and 35 in the Western societies.

Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games

MMORPGs are the final and by far the most complex group in our classification. They are something like little worlds within themselves, often resembling scaled-down copies of the real world, yet different as well. The two leading MMORPGs as of the time of writing are probably World of Warcraft (WoW) and Final Fantasy XI (FFXI) , each with millions of active players worldwide. The distinctive difference between MMORPGs and the other kinds of online multiplayer games is that RPGs are not round-based, and do not have a time limit or any specific goal to achieve. They are just there to be explored along (or sometimes against) other players. The key concept is that each player chooses a single virtual avatar which is at first rather weak (low-level) and starts in some safe basic area of his choice. The current MMORPGs all offer a rich palette of races and locations to start with. Usually, to be able to explore the world, the character must be made stronger, which is typically achieved by killing some kind of virtual monsters repeatedly, at low levels usually alone, later in a group. You can also do "quests" - tasks given to you by an in-game character - for various rewards and with various degrees of difficulty.

Current MMORPGs are very large and highly complex. Even fully exploring their worlds can take years, and trying out all the playstyles and options is almost impossible. There are lots of different strategies for doing quests and winning difficult battles, and organizational and managemental skills become essential in major conflicts where sometimes hundreds of people are involved at once. Those large-scale groups already resemble something like real-world armies, with a defined command structure and squads with some special tasks each. This is something entirely new - nothing of comparable scale and complexity has been there until just several years ago - and the scale is likely to become ever greater.

An impressive fact is the extreme internationality of MMORPGs. A little less obvious with WoW, since it is also Battlenet-based and uses the regional server concept, it is highly apparent with Final Fantasy XI, which does not distinguish any regions - each of its servers has people from the entire Earth. Most players come from Japan (where the game originates from), many from the US and Europe, but it is possible to meet people from too many countries to list here, almost every corner of the world being represented. An interesting side effect is that one comes in contact with numerous cultures and customs and many different languages. Some anecdotal stories from the authors' own experience include a maid coming in to clean an Egyptian player's room at the wrong time, relaxed Moroccan players sipping on a water pipe in an Internet cafe while playing, and a Canadian PhD student surveying the attitudes of gamers for her thesis work.

Another positive thing about MMORPGs is that they encourage making friends and teamplay very much. It may be possible to do a lot alone (although not in all RPGs), but a well-matched group can do much more. Therefore, social skills like making contacts and keeping them are substantial in MMORPGs. Since the player is hidden behind his avatar, the threshold to approach someone you don't know is a lot lower than in real life, which makes them a good playground for shy people. The authors know of several real-life relationships that initially started with the players liking each other in the game and then finding out they liked each other in real life as well. Of course, the chance for a mess-up is much higher here as well - after all in real life it's unlikely you date someone who looks cute for a while, only to find out he's a chain smoking guy in his 30s. However, still, interestingly enough, MMORPGs are relatively much more popular with women when compared to FPS or strategy games. That is probably because there's a lot of social interaction within them - you make friends who you see and adventure together a lot, and there's a lot of talking and personal information being exchanged - something almost entirely missing from most other multiplayer games.

The clan idea from FPS and strategy games is even much more emphasized in MMORPGs. Guilds in WoW and linkshells in FFXI are major social entities, with their members meeting each other daily for years. The real-life meetings of large guilds or linkshells are worldwide events, with people coming together from many different places. Linkshell friendships sometimes last for years. On the downside, this means that one can get hurt as well in the game - a fact that many people unfamiliar with the whole phenomenon often fail to understand. "It's just a game", they say. On the one hand, they're right. Yet on the other hand, if it is possible to make new friends through these games, who become real-life friends as well, one should realize that it is quite possible to get friendships broken by them as well, for instance when being disappointed by people one had trusted. This is also something almost unique to MMORPGs - there has never been so much reality in a virtual world before. Talking of that, one should mention another peculiar aspect of those games - the equipment hunting. As the avatars are the same (or similar) for everyone, the gear or equipment that a player has basically measures his social status, much like a car or money in real life. Players with very rare, "godly" gear, are admired and envied by many people with regular equipment. Since that is something most people like, and, as mentioned, the thresholds for doing things are so much lower than in real life, many nasty things have been done in order to obtain gear. Again, here the RPGs are almost like a mirror of real life, condensing down the more hidden similar issues there to a more compact and visible form. In a way, it is a pretty interesting experience and can teach one a lot about people. It just becomes clear much faster who is worth what. A related trait of these games is the emerging RMT (Real Money Trade) industry, which basically thrives on selling virtual game money and items for real money, and for some games has reached revenues comparable to the per capita gross national products of European countries. Here one can see the blurring of the distinction between work and playing - many people don't play for fun anymore. They earn money by "camping" (sitting at the same spot all day) special monsters and selling the dropped items. It turns out it is possible to earn sizable amounts with that - more than a regular hard job in some countries would pay.

To summarize, online multiplayer games are a very large and ever increasing phenomenon. Very addictive, and easily able to occupy a player for years, they are perhaps becoming the major modern escape-from-reality tool of the next generation. Certainly, they have their drawbacks, and not too few. However, if seen as an alternative to TV, MMORPGs are definitely more worthwhile, in the authors' humble opinion.

Springtime in Washington DC

Springtime in Washington DC is a beautiful time of year. One of the most beautiful sights are the cherry trees in full bloom. Spring is the time of year that people from all over the world come to the city to view these spectacular trees. Spring in Washington DC means it is time for the annual Cherry Blossom Festival. The Cherry Blossom Festival is being held March 28th through April 12th in 2009.

The Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC has several beguiling and breathtaking events, but none so electrifying and fun-filled as the Sakura Matsuri Japanese Street Festival! This festival has everything, live performances, Japanese food and products, martial arts exhibitions, Japanese cultural exhibits, sake tasting and two (not just one!) Kirin Ichiban Beer Gardens. (Note: Since I go with my children, I have never actually gone to the sake tasting or beer gardens...however, everyone in those areas seem to be having a very good time!)

I realize that many people will tell you the most galvanizing part of the Cherry Blossom Festival is the stupendous fireworks show over the water. Several will say it is the sensational parade that precedes the street festival. Dozens will tell you it is the cherry blossoms...just the cherry blossoms that make this so enthralling. I am here to tell you the truth. The Sakura Matsuri Japanese Street Festival is the place to be to have a stimulating and thrilling day!

The Parade

Don't let my comments above fool you! The National Cherry Blossom Parade is a colorful event. The giant balloons, marching bands, floats and performers are sure to entice everyone in your group, large and small. The parade route runs along Constitution Ave from 7th St to 17th St NW. This year's parade will be held on April 4th, 2009 beginning at 10am.

Alex Trabek, Jeopardy! host will attend as the Grand Marshall. Other big names include Miss America 2009, Katie Stam, Joey Page (watch for swooning teenage girls!), Kimberly Locke from American Idol and Grammy award winning Thelma Houston. Celebrities from all over aspire to be part of this parade!

Marching bands will come from as far away as Nevada. Floats will include the ever popular Cherry Blossom Princesses. Performers from America and Japan will entertain and astound you! There will be singing, dancing and martial arts! A giant Kermit the Frog will hoover overhead sauntering along with Hello Kitty.

The parade is free and open to the public. Just line up on Constitution Ave and watch the wonders parade past you. If you dislike standing for long periods of time, or just want to ensure a good spot, think about purchasing a seat on the grandstand. The grandstand is located between 15th St and 17th St and will guarantee you a stupendous view of the parade. Grandstand ticket stubs will also allow you free entry to Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum a short walk away.

The Main Event

Immediately following the parade is the Sakura Matsuri Japanese Street Festival. This is scheduled to run from 11am to 6pm on April 4, 2009. There is so much to see and do in this festival you will wish it was for a week instead of a few hours! The festival is interactive allowing adults and children to try out many of the crafts, learn many of the dances and sing and play with the performers.

The festival is 6 blocks of Japanese packed fun! It runs along Pennsylvania Avenue from 10th Street to 14th Street and down 12th Street from Pennsylvania Avenue to Constitution Avenue. My family likes to take the Metro to Metro Center and walk the 2 blocks through the cherry blossoms to get to the festival. Many people will exit the Metro at the Federal Triangle which brings you right to the center of the festivities.

The Food

We go from Metro Center to 12th Street and Constitution Avenue to begin our journey into the world of Japan. The first booth is usually set up by Southwest Airlines, who sponsors the parade. Here we stop to get our names written in Japanese characters (for free of course). Our first souvenior in hand we continue.

Down 12th Street heading towards Pennsylvania are most of the food vendors. We usually stop at some point in the day for Yakitori and rice. My daughter discovered she loves sweet red bean buns. It is fun to go and sit on the steps to one of Washington's famous buildings, eat and watch the crowd go by!

The Performers

This year you can see Ai Kawashima perform. She was part of the Japanese Pop band i-Wish, but is currently pursuing a solo career. Ai is one of the top Pop artists in Japan. Her father died when she was a small child and her mother died before she became famous, but this lovely lady does not focus on the bad in life. She focuses on love and world peace using her singing to inspire others.

Her songs are featured in many anime and video games. Two of the most famous are Compass, the theme song for the eighth One Piece Movie and Crawl, the theme song for Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon. She has an enchanting voice and a serene stage presence.

Traditional Japanese Performances

Five stages are set up during the street festival. All in all, 35 hours of entertainment is performed. Now you know why I need a week to do and see everything! You have martial arts performances on Freedom Plaza. Traditional Japanese music performances, such as taiko and koto to name a couple. The taiko drum performances are thrilling, a mixture of drumming and martial arts.

There are numerous dance performances going on. Geisha's with fans dancing to traditional Japanese music. Japanese princesses dancing with cherry blossoms. Happy dances, somber dances...interactive dances? Yes, you can learn how to dance traditional Japanese dances at this festival. Dance, Dance Revolution is another great favorite! You can watch as ordinary people master these moves...or try some yourself!

Anime in Real Life

My kids favorite part is when we head over to J-Pop land. This is where you see anime history. Anime is Japanese animation (cartoons) often based on manga (Japanese comic books). You may have heard of some, Dragon Ball Z, Inuyashu or Pokemon are some of the more mainstream anime.

The Sakura Matsuri street festival draws anime lovers from all over. You will be on line with characters such as Ash from Pokemon, Kagome from Inuyasha and Goku from Dragon Ball Z. People have pink or green or blue hair. Kimonos abound! Dressing up is for the young and the young at heart. There is no age limit imposed.

Watching the people is my favorite part of this diverse and dramatic festival. I love when 2 groups of anime dressed people come together and start to act in character. Comee Comee Haaa is often heard. I had the pleasure of watching two Ashes Pokemon battle. There is nothing like having a little fantasy come to life to liven up the afternoon!

Young or old, boy or girl, everyone will find something they love about this festival. People are friendly and in good spirits. There is a spirit of unity and celebration. People are here having fun and enjoying life. They come out rain or shine to celebrate the Japanese way. The only complaint you will ever hear is, "There's not enough time to do everything!!!!!"

Rumored to be the only Hero Class in the WOTLK, knowing about the Death Knight Gameplay as early as now will surely help you once you decide to get this character. Below are some important facts about this Hero class that you should remember.

Overall Description:
They are formidable characters who possess not only physical prowess but forbidden magical skills as well. Previously servants of the Lich King, they now are their own masters.

How to Get One:
If you're as excited as I am to get this character, then remember that you would need to have at least a level 55 character which does not belong to the Hero class to create a Death Knight.

What can They Do?
This review of the hero will not be complete without telling you about your Death Knight's roles. Belonging to a hybrid class, they can both serve as Tank/Melee DPS characters and also have casting powers.

Talent Progression
There are three talent progressions or trees for them in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. They are the following:
* Blood - focus on weapons, gear, and strikes.
* Frost - this talent focuses on control, his counter strikes, and his combos.
* Unholy - the focus of this talent are the spells, diseases, and special summons.

Your Death Knight will also have Presences, auras that only work for your Death Knight character. Examples are the Blood Presence, Frost Presence, and Unholy Presence.

Runes and Your Death Knight:
Abilities rely on runes and their powers. Runes have three variants: blood, frost, and unholy. Runes can be using alone or in combination. Runes also have cooldown periods. A good thing though, is that you can customize your Runes depending on the battle or role you are in. Additionally, runic power is garnered every time your Death Knight uses his Runes. Runic power can be used in one go with a special ability. This makes the them special.

Why they are Awesome:
Their core ability is to create minions or servants from the undead. Their three Raising skills are the following:

* Raise the Dead - raise ghoul companions from dead enemies or allies. You can even cast this spell on a friendly living unit and be able to control its actions like a puppet.
* Army of the Dead - a spell that gives them an army which lives briefly to attack your enemies.
* Summon Deathcharger - a mount that they can use in battles.
Here ends this review of the known Death Knight Gameplay. By no means is this definite until the game is officially released, but it's something you can think on and get excited about, and having a good guide will definitely improve your game. I sure am excited!

Companies manufacturing these gaming consoles are coming up with new and improved versions of their gaming consoles incorporating the latest etchnology into it. You talk about the Playstation 3 or ,the latest edition of XBox 360, you would find a few thousand takers to it.

Nintendo GameCube is Nintendo's fourth home video game console. The GameCube is a predecessor to the WII and is part of the sixth generation era.

The GameCube uses a Game Disc as a medium and is the first non-cartridge storage medium gaming console.

What is so good about the GameCube:

The GameCube has lots of positives to it. A few of them are as follows:

The GameCube is very tight and Compact and is the best portable equipments available in the market right now.
The Controller design is so practical and natural that it is a pleasure using it.
Some of the best M-Rated games are easily available on GameCube. The best example of this is Resident Evil.
The optical gaming discs are relatively small, but it can still hold 1.5 gigabytes of memory. But a GameCube can't play movies or CD's.
In most of the gaming consoles there is often a problem that you encounter. A interruption by opening the disc leads to quite a few error messages. But GameCube is devoid of such issues.
The best part of all is the availability of colors. The color choices are as follows:

Final Fantasy 9 Review

Some games never grow old. The Final Fantasy series is definitely one of them. After the 9th addition the series went away from the PSX to focus more on the PS2 and now the PS3. But sometimes it's really fun to re-live the classics. With Sony offering the older games on the Playstation store maybe this is the time to get back to the roots and remind yourself why final fantasy is so great. But is part 9 worth playing all over again this year?

Story

Final fantasy 9 is the story about Zidane and Garnet (later named dagger). Zidane is a thief with the task to kidnap princess Garnet of Alexandria. It works but surprisingly Garnet wanted to escape the kingdom herself. Together they run away from queen Brahne. The queen meanwhile is building an army of mages using mist machines. As Zidane and Garnet continue their journey it turns out that queen Brahne wants her daughter back for the wrong reasons. And with her new army Garnet's return seems inevitable.

The story is very good and definitely keeps you interested the whole way through. I soon adored the characters and the romance and tension between them. It makes you want to read the dialogues and follow the story like there's no tomorrow. The style of graphics and story telling might not be everyone's cup of tea. Like I mentioned earlier the story is controlled by dialogues and cut scenes. There's no voice acting in the cutscenes or the dialogues, so you'll be doing a lot of reading. And some may find it awkward that the cut scenes look so much better than the actual game, but it's a trade off you make by playing this 2001 final fantasy title.

Gameplay

Like all final fantasy games before 2007 this game uses the turn based battle system. Basically you can tell a character what to do once its waiting time is over. Then after it attacked you need to wait some more before you can execute your next move. It works really well and the system allows a great deal of control without losing sight of your character's moves. But you could argue that the lack of manual character movements leaves some level of tactics unused. And yes apart from two positions (front and back) your fighters will remain on the same position but I think the turn based system gives you enough control to thoroughly enjoy every battle.

Besides the battles you will be busy getting from town to town in order to complete the story. You can move freely most of the time but there's little exciting to do apart from the main storyline. So your freedom will be limited to leveling and buying stuff, which is a missed opportunity.

Presentation

Final fantasy is known for great graphics and an even better soundtrack. Final fantasy 9 is no exception. First of all the graphics are about as good as it gets for a PS1 title. The characters are very well modeled and their interaction leaves little to be desired. The backgrounds aren't animated like today's games so you're basically walking on a still image. It's not really noticeable because the images fit perfectly and look great, but it leaves an obvious contrast between characters (animated) and the background (still).

About the soundtrack, it's fantastic. The songs really fit. it completes the experience and sets the mood for every village or continent you go to. In fact the music is so good that buying the official CD is recommended for those who really enjoyed the story.

Conclusion

Final fantasy 9 is one of the greatest in the series. The story is good and the gameplay is as good as it gets for a PS1 game. But the lack of side-quests can be frustrating for some. Also worth noting is that the still backgrounds could be visually unappealing for some. Still with little vaults and a great story, final fantasy 9 is one of those games that are actually worth replaying in 2010.

Musical Gems of 2010 Thus Far

There's been a lot going on in the indie music world since the beginning of the year, and music fans are the beneficiaries here. Some highly anticipated releases have been as good as many have hoped for, which is a rare thing when it comes to music and movies.

Here are three of my personal favorites through the beginning of the year. If you haven't heard any of these yet, I would definitely recommend adding them to your collection.

If you're a fan of Vampire Weekend and their first release, I would definitely suggest buying their follow up album, known as Contra. Vampire Weekend has been the darling of the indie world since coming out with its debut album, and many have been looking forward to this album since they announced its production last year.

If you were one of those people looking forward to their second release, you'll be glad to know that you'll likely enjoy Contra as much as you enjoyed the band's debut. The sound is a bit different, and the band has incorporated many new influences in its work.

If you like the dream pop genre, the best release of the year may undoubtedly belong to Beach House. This is a bold statement when you consider the fact that the year just started, but Teen Dream their newest release, is simply that good.

The sounds of this CD will bring you into a trance, as the instrumentation, vocals, and lyrics all blend seamlessly, creating a sound that's familiar and unique all in its own.

One more suggestion that I'd make is the new Owen Pallett CD. Many critics are calling Heartland the best release of 2010 thus far, and the hard work he's put into this effort is clear.

Pallett, who used to go by Final Fantasy, has hit a home run with this release and this accomplished songwriter continues to improve with each new release. Listen to this if you have an adventurous taste for new music.

How to Become Good at RPG Games

Role playing games have never been more popular. Big titles of the genre includes Final Fantasy, Oblivion, Star Ocean and Mass Effect, games you've heard of unless you've lived under a rock for the last decade. In which case I'm so sorry and congratulations for finding this article. I don't know how you managed to read this today but I love serving you with the following knowledge. Knowledge on how to succeed in role playing games, or in short, RPGs.

Haste is bad

Games in this genre have the tendency to be really long and big. It's one huge adventure. But truth is that these games can usually be finished rather quickly. One of the biggest role playing games of the last few years has to be Oblivion. A game that allows you to walk freely in a big world. While the game has enough to entertain for 100+ hours, the main story can actually be completed in under 10 hours. But with the side stories and extras your character can become stronger and in the progress the main story becomes easier. That's the thing in RPGs you shouldn't want to complete it quickly, instead take your time to train your character and find new rare items. It will make your experience a whole lot easier!

Understand the battle system

Every game has a different approach to the fighting mechanics. Older Final Fantasy games for example were turn based, meaning time wasn't of the essence. But Oblivion and Final Fantasy 12 (last released ps2 version) are very much time sensitive meaning that it matters how long it takes you to find items or magic spells. Bottom line is that you must know the way fighting works in and out to succeed in these games. If you don't know how it works read the user manual or search the internet for the required knowledge.

Exploit weaknesses

Like in real life every character and monsters in this case have weaknesses and strengths. For example your main character might have extremely strong spells but lack of physical strength. In this case use magic to win your battles. Same goes for the enemies you're fighting. Find out what their weaknesses are and the battle will go your way no doubt.

Items

It's essential that you use the items and strengths you've at your disposal. Understand how to cure curtain curses like poison or blind. And use the necessary items. No one has ever won an RPG without using items like potions or ethers.

And that's all there is to it. With these pointers you can beat every RPG on the market. Good luck and I hope you experience a great adventure at the comfort of your own living room.

Computer Game Villain Takes a Whole Day to Defeat

A new Villain in the Final Fantasy XI computer game is causing real players to pass out and get sick during a very, very long battle.

Well the saying goes if it is good enough for Cartman then it is good enough for Square-Enix.

Why am I saying this well the developers of the famous online role-playing computer game Final Fantasy XI seemed to have borrowed the idea from Emmy-winning South Park episode "Make Love, No Warcraft" by updating the game with one of the longest, most physically demanding video game fights ever. The latest downloadable update for the computer video game is a boss monster named "Pandemonium Warden" in which several high-level avatars wailed on the creature nonstop for 18 hours straight and no scratch on the beast.

This seemingly unbeatable boos will not prevent people from completing the computer game. Though persistent online game don't end the same way a normal single player game does. The has sparked debate as to what exactly the develops at square-Enix expect out of their devoted fan bass. As a result message board all over the place have lite up with players being less then satisfied with the new upgrade. They have called out the company on its in-game warning "no desire to see your real life suffer as a consequence [of playing]. Don't forget your friends, your family, your school or your work."

It was easy for Square-Enix to say. "While the beast continually healed, the gamers weren't so lucky."

"People were passing out and getting physically ill," leaders of the player guild said in a forum post. "We decided to end it before we risked turning into a horrible news story about how video games ruin people's lives."

According to this reader it is already too late.

7) Ness from Earthbound

When one thinks of a hero or protagonist, the image of a strong man or woman wearing a cool outfit made out of materials that provide protection against enemies during the long and arduous journey ahead; not in Ness' case. When this guy sets out to save the world from an alien race, all he needs is a hat, striped shirt, backpack, and his trusty baseball bat. When it came out in the 1990s Earthbound on the SNES took the conventional hero image and turned it on its heels.

6) Super Mario

In some show about gaming I saw a while back, the developers at Nintendo decided to break the mold of the stereotypical hero. A small amount of memory limited how many pixels they could use to create Mario, so they put most of it in his nose and gut. An ugly plumber wearing red overalls and a cap was born, spawning a revolution in gaming. His outfit didn't bother me until Super Mario RPG came out, which was a terrific game, but the selection of armor Mario could wear was limited to it having the word pants in it (work pants, heavy pants).

5) Zidane from Final Fantasy IX

I remember reading a video game magazine a few months before FF9 came out and being perplexed as to why the characters had large heads and long, monkey-like arms. I then soon realized that the people at Squaresoft were insane, but also probably trying to design very uniqe characters not seen in other games: they succeeded. Zidane looks like a cross between Meg Ryan, Prince, and Goku and his outfit looks to be some sort of British aristocracy/sailor suit. While I really enjoyed the game, I never got over why he looked so strange.

4) Max from Dark Cloud 2

Max is an inventor of sorts, and in the game can create monsters by using materials and taking pictures of bosses. It bothered me that his weapon of choice was a wrench, which seems like a weapon someone would pick up randomly if they thought their house was being broken into. Add an engineer cap and overalls and the picture is complete, Max belongs on a railroad and not in an RPG.

3) Tidus from Final Fantasy X

Overall, I didn't like Tidus very much in general and FF10 didn't feel like a genuine part of the Final Fantasy series, maybe because FF7 was too hard to top. One thing that really bothered me about Tidus is that he wears shorts, with one being longer than the other. Tidus seemed to start the trend of exposing as much chest and stomach as possible with half-shirts that would make him look like a fashion model from Zoolander, and does anyone else think he looks just like Marlene from Advent Children?

2) Albel Nox from Star Ocean: Till the End of Time

Albel is the first character I encountered in a game where I was unsure whether or not he was a man or a woman. With a man's voice and man's name, but the body shape and body language of a woman, it took a while for me to be sure it was a guy, and even then I was doubtful. Japanese games aren't known for making masculine characters and their male characters often have soft, feminine features, but even then I can normally tell. A cut-off shirt, pany-hose looking leggings, and a skirt make Albel just a bit sexually ambiguous.

1) Vaan from Final Fantasy XII

I felt misled in the beginning of FF12 because you play as Vaan's brother, who is a knight clad in a true set of armor, fitting for any hero. Unfortunately, he dies and you take control as his seemingly gay, street-rat brother, Vaan. Vaan looks pretty much like Tidus, except he is just wearing pants, a tiny vest and looks a lot more like a girl. It just doesn't make sense to me why the people at Squaresoft are taking articles of clothing away after every game. I could really go on and on about how disturbed I am just looking at Vaan, so let me put it this way: there are men, there are women, and then there is Vaan.
